A world of floating islands
The moon broke.
The shards woke up.
Seven generations ago the moon cracked and fell in pieces. Where the shards landed, they came alive as Shardlings. Bind them, play them, read their story.

The novel
The Girl Who Bound the Fog
by Adrian-Arne Kolb
One coat. No bindstone. And an owl made of fog.
Isla Wren mends fog nets on Lantern Rock, the last island before the edge of the map. She owns one coat, no money and no bindstone. Then a small violet shard falls out of the sky, lands in her nets and cracks open in her hand. Out tumbles a greedy, nosy owl made of crystal who will not stop squealing.
His name is Hush, because he never is.
Wild bonds are not supposed to win. But the season has begun and the bridges are waiting.

The world
The Shard Isles
Where the shards struck, the land tore loose and rose into the sky. Below lies a sea of cloud that nobody has crossed. A shard that lands takes on the nature of the place it hits and wakes as a Shardling.
Ember
Born in the volcanic Cinder Chain. Fast and hot-tempered. Foxes, hounds and wolves.
Root
Born in the hanging forests of the Green Reach. Patient, and hard to beat, because they mend.
Mist
Born in the fog of the Veil Isles. Small, clever and full of tricks. Owls, moths, mantises.
Iron
Born in the mountains and the ruins of the old cities. Armoured, slow and stubborn.
Many more are still out there. New Shardlings are discovered with every expansion.
